Everyone’s favourite creamy and dreamy Indian restaurant classic – mango lassi. What better way to combine the sweetness of mangoes with the tanginess of yoghurt? This sweet and rich mango lassi is made with fresh honey mangoes, whole milk and, sugar for a refreshing summer drink.
MangoLassi

The first thing I always make with my mangoes is this delicious and refreshing mango lassi. A favourite drink at Indian restaurants, but who needs takeaways when you can make your own fresh mango lassi at home?

Restaurants usually use mango pulp, but my recipe uses fresh mangoes to make this mango lassi recipe all the better.

Lassis come in all kinds of flavours. Some are salty. Some are sweet. Some are minty. Some are fruity. It all depends on the recipe. Mango lassi is a yoghurt-based mango milkshake or smoothie made with ripe and sweetened mangoes.

As with potatoes, there are many different mango varieties. I usually use honey mangoes, but that is entirely up to you. Just make sure that the mango is ripe!

This mango milkshake recipe is so easy to make and perfect for the upcoming summer months. You can whip it up in under 15 minutes and you’re done.

Lay back and relax then enjoy the hot summer days ahead, well as hot as it is going to get in the UK that is anyways.

I love this mango smoothie recipe and I always like to make this milkshake whenever I can get some hands-on mangoes.

You can use canned mango pulp or fresh or frozen mango cubes. If you use fresh mango, make sure it’s ripe and sweet.

If your mangoes aren’t ripe enough, they’ll be excessively tangy, requiring you to add more sugar than you’d want.

This drink is frequently seen on the menus of Indian restaurants, and if you’ve ever wondered how to prepare it at home, let me assure you that it’s a fairly straightforward and quick process. To create mango lassi at home, you only need a few simple ingredients and around 10 minutes.

Instructions

  • Place the empty smoothie glass into the refrigerator to ensure that the lassi is cooler and make it more refreshing
  • Peel the fresh mangoes and cut into small chunks discarding the stone in the middle and add into a blender along with the sugar, yoghurt, ice cubes and milk – whole milk is best as the mango lassi will be tastier although semi-skimmed milk can be used for a healthy alternative
  • Blitz until of smooth consistency and pour into the smoothie glass
  • Serve immediately and enjoy on its own or on the side with a spicy curry!
