Falooda

Falooda. Is it a dessert? Is it a drink? Nope, it’s both! This falooda is a popular ice cream dessert where various ingredients are added in several layers and topped with ice cream, dried fruits, and glace cherries.

Making this at home is super easy and simple. In under half an hour you have a refreshing summer dessert! To make falooda you need to use thin vermicelli made of cornflour. There are different types of vermicelli, so be sure that you check carefully if the vermicelli is suitable for use in falooda.

This specific type of vermicelli has a distinct taste and flavour making them perfectly paired for this dessert. You can replace it with vermicelli made with wheat flour, but there will be a difference in taste.

I always use full-fat milk as this allows for a rich and creamy falooda. You could use semi-skimmed milk if you want to. For a vegan alternative, you could use coconut milk or oat milk.

Basil seeds, also known as sabja seeds or tukmaria, are the key ingredient in falooda recipes. These seeds are known to have several health benefits, especially in the hot summer months. However, if you do not have basil seeds you can replace them with chia seeds.

Rose syrup can sometimes be difficult to find, but if you do not have any it is easily replaceable with rooh afza or strawberry syrup. There may be a slight difference in taste, but even with any of these ingredient substitutions, this falooda recipe is a true dessert to behold.

Falooda is one of those dishes that look so good that you won’t even want to eat it. This makes it perfect for serving at parties and events. Falooda is very commonly served at weddings, and it isn’t hard to see why. Try this homemade falooda recipe for a delicious summer treat.

Falooda is a refreshing summer dessert that comes in the form of a beverage, a delicious dessert that can be eaten and drank at the same time. Originating from India, falooda is a popular and traditional drink or dessert perfect for those hot summer days.
