These lemon pepper chicken wings are bold, crispy and full of zesty heat. Perfect for gatherings or a weeknight treat, they bring together sharp citrus and a peppery kick that’s hard to resist.

Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • 1 kg Chicken Wings
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 2 tbsp Parsley
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the spices for the marinade.
  • Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss well to coat all the wings evenly in the marinade.
  • For best results, let the wings marinate for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour in the fridge. If you have more time, marinating overnight will enhance the flavor.
  • Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  • Place the marinated wings in a single layer on a baking tray.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, turning the wings halfway through to ensure they cook evenly and become golden brown and crispy.
  • If you want extra crispiness, broil them for the last 2–3 minutes of baking.
  • While the wings are baking, melt the butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the finely chopped garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (be careful not to burn the garlic).
  • Stir in the spices for the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Add in the parsley, lemon juice and ketchup.
  • Once the wings are baked to perfection, add them to the sauce and toss them well until they are evenly coated in the flavorful sauce.
  • Serve the wings immediately with extra lemon wedges, if desired, and enjoy the zesty, spicy, and crispy goodness!
