Beef Curry with Potatoes

A hearty beef curry with tender potato chunks simmered in a rich, spiced tomato sauce, perfect for a comforting meal. Bursting with traditional Indian flavours, this curry pairs wonderfully with rice or bread.

Ingredients

  • 600 g Beef cubed
  • 300 g Potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
  • 50 ml Oil
  • 2 Onions finely chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger grated
  • 400 g Canned Tomatoes chopped
  • 100 ml Water
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 1 handful Coriander chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and sauté for 5–6 minutes until golden brown.
  • Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add turmeric, coriander, cumin, and red chilli powder, stirring well.
  • Add the beef cubes and sear until browned on all sides.
  • Pour in the chopped tomatoes and water, cover and simmer for 40 minutes.
  • Add the potato chunks and cook for another 20 minutes until tender.
  • Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and stir gently.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
